Changing Insurance Policies for Clients
The start of a new year or season often brings a change to a client's insurance policy.
TherapyAppointment allows you to keep the 'old' policy on file in case you need to resubmit old claims, and also allows you to enter the new effective policy for the patient.
Here are the steps:
First Set the End Date
- (left menu)
- Click on the name of the client
- Scroll to the Primary Insurance section (near the bottom)
- Under the middle section Policy (or Insured) click the edit button edit :
- Set the coverage end date and then click (top right):
- You'll then see the coverage dates warning in red on the clients profile:
Next is Adding the New Policy:
To do this, click at the top right corner of Primary Insurance and enter the new insurance details as you normally would:
Once added, you'll see the new insurance information:
You'll then notice the old insurance listed at the bottom under Pre-Authorizations:
Need to Switch Policies for an Appointment?
In case you already have a visit entered under the old policy, but you need to attach the new insurance policy to that visit, follow these steps.
Go to:
- (left menu)
- Click on the name of the client
- Click Billing (top tab)
- Click on the DOS or CPT Code Description:
- Then click on the CPT Code Description:
- Scroll to the bottom and change the Primary Insurance to the correct policy
- When done click (bottom right):
