Telehealth - Apple Gestures and Reactions
Seeing certain figures or effects go on in the background of you or your clients video? Are you using an Apple product? Read on for a fix.
Apple has released a software update and by default enabled Reactions in videos. This can cause unexpected reactions while conducting sensitive therapy sessions.
Read on to learn how to disable this feature.
From Apple:
computer Reactions fill your video frame with a 3D effect expressing how you feel. To show a reaction, make the appropriate hand gesture in view of the camera and away from your face. Hold the gesture until you see the effect.

Disable Reactions
To disable reactions, when you're in a meeting on a Mac:
- Click the top menu bar button Video:
- Then click the green icon beside Reactions:
- Once you click on that line, it should show a grey icon indicating it's disabled:
