Enabling DoseSpot
Here's how you can enable DoseSpot:
- To access, on any screen click (top right)
- Then click Staff (top tab)
- Click on the provider(s) that you wish to enable it for
- Find the Roles section
- Find DoseSpot & click
Want to add a Prescribing Agent instead?
This is a different role you can find near the bottom.
What are prescribing agents? They can create, send, change and refill non-controlled prescriptions on behalf of all ePrescribe Clinicians at the practice.
At the bottom of Roles you'll see that separate role. Click similarly:
Once DoseSpot is Enabled:
We will ask you for key information shown below:
We attempt to help you fill in things like Name, DOB, type 1 NPI and address / phone. If you need to edit any of these greyed out sections, please cancel out of this and update them on your profile and return.
Once completed, click (top right)

Authorized to Prescribe Controlled Substances? (ECPS)
If so, enter your DEA number at the bottom right. Then verify your identity with DoseSpot - it's both easy and secure!After activating e-Prescribe
- To the left of the e-prescribing option you'll now see a check_circle checkmark circle
- You'll also see a button with the option to manage the above provider/group specific settings if needed:
Setting up a Client's e-Prescribe (Profile)
For a client not already set up, to access this, go to the clients profile and click
on the right menu:
- On mobile? Click the button (top right) to expand the menu
- We will prefill client demographics for you if already entered in the client profile
- If not entered, we'll prompt you for those details as well here (which will then be auto saved to the client profile)
- If all those demographics are filled in, we'll only ask you for height and weight on this screen:
- Click and then review the next popup
- Once accepted you should be brought into the e-prescribe system
- will launch the prescription management for that client
- edit client specific as well as provider & practice prescribing settings for this provider specifically
Update a clients demographics in their TherapyAppointment profile and want it in DoseSpot?
- Click the ePrescribe Settings option above
- Edit any necessary settings & click (bottom right) when finished.

Access and Manage Medications
Once you click To manage a client's individual medications:
You have access to:
- Prescribing new or existing medications for continuity of care
- Here we also list any pending medications
- Review their entire list of medications including:
- Active and inactive medications
- Additionally, add self reported medications that you don't prescribe

Top sections:
Client Demographics, Allergies, and Pharmacies (top left)
- Here we prefill the client demographics to save you time!
- Need to edit something other than the client height & weight? Use the ePrescribe Settings button on the client profile
- To edit a clients weight & height, click (bottom left) - height & weight is synced to TherapyAppointment
- For allergies, click (top left)
- Add a pharmacy by clicking (top left) → we recommend doing this before prescribing a medication
Add a Prescription (top right)
- Click to create a new prescription. Please click here to take you to this section
- Click to add a client reported prescription
Bottom Sections
- Here we list on each top tab:
Active Medications | Inactive Medications | Medication History
- Active medications are any medications you have actively prescribed to the client
- Inactive medications are medications that have expired and are no longer being prescribed to the client
- Medication history shows past medication history beyond your prescribing (requires consent)
Create or Add a New Prescription
To prescribe a medication to the client click the button (top right):
Follow the steps here:
- On the new screen, search for the medication by name and click on it, and then the dosage:
Then work top to bottom ensuring everything is correct:
- Medication name & dosage (that you just clicked)
- Pharmacy information
- If there is no pharmacy click Add
- DEA# (if applicable it's auto filled, if multiple states it's a drop down)
- Effective date (shortcut: click today to the right)
- Ensure the patient directions, dispensed amount and unit type, alongside refills and days supply are accurate to avoid delays and headaches for your clients (and yourself!)
- Optionally include a pharmacy note
When done, click (bottom left):
Once added, the prescription will be marked pending

Pending Medication
Once a prescription is added, it's listed under the pending medications section in the middle:
Here your options are:
Left Side
- Select one or multiple prescriptions
Bottom:
- (right): edit the prescription, delete it, or change the pharmacy
- → This sends the medication to the pharmacy for the client to pick up when ready
- → This shows a PDF of the prescription you can either print, or save as a PDF
Active Medications
Once you click the prescription will be sent electronically to the pharmacy and you'll notice the precription now under the bottom Active Medications tab:
Viewing Client Prescriptions
Each client's prescription list is viewable through their profile. To access, go to:
- (left menu)
- Click on the client name
- On the left menu, click
- Mobile users: click (top right) first
At the bottom under Active Medications you'll see a list of medications that are currently active and have been prescribed to this client:
Actions (far right)
Clicking will allow you to perform the following:
- Edit to make changes to the prescription
- Delete to remove the prescription (you can always re-add and prescribe if needed)
- Change Pharmacy to send this to a different pharmacy instead
DoseSpot Notifications
Anytime you get a notification from DoseSpot, like a pending prescription, we show you a number count beside the DoseSpot icon, visible on each page:

Click the button (far right) to reveal the details:
- Once expanded, you can view the pending notifications
- Actions can be found under the view column (right)

Reports
DoseSpot had a few reports available. To access, either:
On any page click the DoseSpot icon:
Or at a client's profile page:
- (left menu)
- Click on the client name
- On the left menu, click
- Mobile users: click (top right) first
Once open, click the top center link to view your reports:

- Prescriptions by date range
- All Outstanding Transmission Errors
- All Outstanding Refill Requests
- EPCS Audit Trail
- EPCS Incident Report
- Refill Responses Report
- Duplicate Patient Report
